How We Vet Our Roofing Pros in Amarillo
Before a request from this site reaches a roofer, we check three things: that the company holds the city registration Amarillo requires for roofing (and Canyon's, for Canyon jobs), that its bond and insurance paperwork is in place, and that we still want to recommend it after interviewing the company. Texas has no state roofing license, so the city registration is the licence check that counts here.

Which registration does a roofer need before we recommend it?
A current City of Amarillo residential roofing contractor registration, which the roofer renews every year, plus Canyon's own registration before a Canyon request is passed on. Without it, nobody in the roofing business may work on a roof that needs a permit inside city limits, and any job over one square (100 sq ft) needs one. We confirm it with the city rather than taking a copy on trust.
Which paperwork has to be in place?
The bond and insurance the city asks for at registration: a $20,000 surety bond and general liability insurance of at least $300,000 per occurrence for a residential roofer. Canyon asks for its own $20,000 bond and $300,000 in liability insurance, so a roofer who works in both cities has two sets of papers on file. The hiring guide lists the full Amarillo minimums.
Why do we interview every roofer?
Because a city record shows a company may work in Amarillo, not whether we want to send your roof to it. We talk with each roofing company before it joins and only recommend it if we are comfortable putting our name next to it.

Yes: ask the roofer for its Amarillo registration and confirm it with Building Safety at 806-378-3041 or building@amarillo.gov. Canyon registrations are confirmed by Canyon's Planning & Development office.
